The Julie & Kirk Cousins Foundation

Julie and I are passionate about generosity and using what we have been given to impact the world around us. We are excited to announce the creation of the Julie & Kirk Cousins Foundation as a way to expand our giving opportunities and to inspire generosity in others.

The Julie & Kirk Cousins Foundation is called to Transform Worldly Resources into Heavenly Riches through Extravagant Generosity. We have highlighted some of the amazing organizations we support on our website. We encourage you to learn more about each of them. You will also find information there on how to support our foundation and each of these organizations directly.

The Bible says in Luke 12:48, “From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, even more will be expected.” We are grateful for the privilege to play in the NFL, but also believe we have a responsibility to manage well what we have been given, and to be generous with it.

We believe that everything God has entrusted to us belongs to Him: “Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours ” (1 Chronicles 29:11).

God puts His money in our hands, but He doesn’t intend for all of it to stay there. We want to be God’s delivery people, to get His money where He wants it to go, to help needy people and serve good causes that do lasting good.

Julie and I are followers of Jesus. However, many who would not identify themselves as Christians still embrace the priorities of justice and compassion that Jesus taught and exemplified. These are among the great causes we wish to support.

Jesus came to bring salvation to all who are in spiritual need, and we affirm, as Jesus did, the biblical commands to help the poor and needy: “Whoever oppresses a poor man insults his Maker, but he who is generous to the needy, honors him” (Proverbs 14:31).

We also want to bring justice to the oppressed. As the Declaration of Independence affirms, we believe all people are created equal, and are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights. Scripture instructs us to “Pursue justice. Correct the oppressor. Defend the rights of the fatherless. Plead the widow’s cause.” (Isaiah 1:17)

Of course, the needs of the world are complex and we lack the expertise to do all that needs to be done. Fortunately, there are many fine organizations doing the work. We are committed to supporting these proven and high-integrity organizations, to enable them to do hands-on acts of compassion and justice.

To give wisely as well as generously, we are committed to due-diligence, relying on the counsel of character-qualified and servant-hearted people who are knowledgeable and trustworthy in their evaluations of giving opportunities.

Julie and I believe we serve a generous God, and, through our foundation, we want to put His generosity on display (Matthew 5:16).

When Jesus said He came to bring good news to the poor, He didn’t only mean to help them with their physical needs. He came because He loved broken and hurting human beings, and desires to save us from ourselves and the heartache of wrongdoing, injustice and abuse. Those things begin in human hearts, and therefore God says we need to have our hearts transformed (Ezekiel 36:26).

Jesus came into the world because God loves us and determined to die for our wrongdoing and grant eternal life (John 3:16).  He said of all people, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10).

Besides God himself, we believe only two things will last forever: God’s Word and people. As a result, our giving will focus on advancing those two things. We have a passion for the local church, for spreading the Good News of the Gospel, and for seeing broken lives redeemed, rebuilt and restored.

Julie and I are committed to giving 15% of our gross income on an annual basis and are challenged to continue increasing our giving percentage in subsequent years. We invite you to join us in supporting these specific areas of impact through our foundation:

-Disaster/Famine Relief

-Promotion of Human Rights

-Community Development

-Good News of Salvation in Jesus

-Bible Translation

Proverbs 11:25 says: “A generous man will prosper, he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.” We have felt the truth of this verse in our own lives, and pray that you too will experience the blessing of extravagant generosity!
