Kirk Cousins: A Balanced Win

I loved seeing our guys get a tough win against the Rams with a balanced day on offense. It was a joy for me to hand the ball off and see all those big gains. Chris Thompson broke off a long touchdown run and showed the league the kind of dynamic back he is. He’s also been a great security blanket for me as a pass catcher and a pass protector. Hopefully, with guys like Chris leading the way, we can keep a steady ground game going through the season.

I was proud of what our guys did on the last drive. It was a great drive that was well executed. We ran the ball well and converted a few third downs. Terrelle did a great job of catching the short hitch, making a defender miss and staying in bounds. Then on the game winning touchdown Jay made a great call and Ryan made an excellent catch. He did a great job of getting separation, slipping through there and keeping two feet in bounds. We weren’t perfect all game but we found a way there at the end.

We’re still a work in progress on offense. We’re still trying to figure out our strengths and what to feature. Each game we’re thinking through things, learning and growing.

One thing I was trying my best not to think through was that my wife could go into labor during the game, Julie seemed sure that she wasn’t going into labor anytime soon. So I did my best to stay present with the game. For now we will continue to wait and we’ll be on baby watch all week.
